UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Anyone interested in dairy product innovation, reinvestment and marketing is invited to attend the Dairy Industry Breakfast hosted by Penn State Extension and the Center for Dairy Excellence. The event will be held Aug. 14 during Penn State’s Ag Progress Days.
This two-hour breakfast will offer insight on current and potential steps to support the dairy manufacturing and value-added industry in Pennsylvania and will highlight the Pennsylvania Dairy Investment Program. Three keynote speakers — Russell Redding, Kelley Huff and Chuck Turner — will discuss their roles in the process.
Redding, Pennsylvania secretary of agriculture, will share the commonwealth’s next steps in supporting dairy and particularly encouraging reinvestment in the processing sector, while Huff and Turner, two recipients of Pennsylvania Dairy Investment Program grants, will share how they utilized dollars to provide new market opportunities for dairy farms.
Huff, president of Enchanted Acres Farm and Simpler Way Nutritionals, also will describe her vision for showcasing Pennsylvania dairy farm families while meeting a growing demand for dairy-based nutraceuticals, both domestically and abroad.
Turner, president of Turner Dairy Farms, a company that has served the Pittsburgh area since 1930, will talk about the need to help dairy farm families be successful while delivering new and innovative products to the consumer.
There is no cost to attend, but participants must register in advance. Registration deadline is Aug. 6, or when space limit is reached.
