CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Professional Dairy Producers® (PDPW) Managers Academy for Dairy Professionals™ will be held Jan. 14-16, 2020, at the Omni Corpus Christi Hotel, 900 North Shoreline Boulevard, Corpus Christi, Texas.
Bringing together progressive dairy farmers, agribusiness leaders, and food system executives, attendees will learn from world-renown speakers, out-of-industry tours, and fellow dairy professionals during the three-day professional development program.
In conjunction with in-class training from expert professional development facilitators, including Holly Green, of the Human Factor, and Michael Hoffman of Igniting Performance Inc., attendees will venture into southern Texas to explore the highly sought after out-of-industry executive tours.
The out-of-industry tours are intentionally designed to help attendees connect the in-class training with the discoveries and common-ground with other industries – this year, showcasing cotton, energy and tourism. Attendees will learn about the fresh approaches to challenges that arise daily within these industries.
Attendees will experience the cotton industry as they tour of a cotton gin, meet with growers and see first-hand how the quality of this commodity is produced at a cotton-classing laboratory. While nearly one hundred countries around the globe produce cotton, China, the U.S., and India combined produce over half the world’s cotton, with Texas leading the way domestically.
The U.S. is energy independent thanks primarily to Texas – the largest producer of U.S. oil. During the second program tour, Valero Energy Corporation executives will reveal how this rapidly growing energy sector balances environmental protection with growth.
For the final tour, attendees will meet with Corpus Christie Mayor Joe McComb, a businessman and politician. McComb is a member of the city council and presides over council meetings and official city ceremonies. He also represents the city on the state, national and international levels. In an exclusive setting, Mayor McComb will offer insights about managing Corpus Christie, a coastal city in South Texas just 130 miles from the boarder wall.
With all three tours and meetings, attendees will learn how each has dealt with talent acquisition, employee management, environmental protection, and crises such as weather emergencies and activism.
Registration includes all sessions, training materials, meals, reception tours and tour travel. Hotel accommodations, with nearing deadline of Dec. 23, 2019, will be at the Omni Corpus Christi Hotel, Corpus Christi, Texas, with a special $139/night rate prior to deadline. Call 800-843-6664 for hotel reservations.
