BOALSBURG, Pa. — Pennsylvania Farm Bureau’s Young Ag Professionals (YAP) held their annual leadership conference on Feb. 4-5 at the Boalsburg Wyndham Garden Hotel. The Conference included more than 150 participants from Pennsylvania, Maryland and New York Farm Bureaus.
The attendees heard from multiple speakers in breakout sessions, including the conference’s keynote speaker, Roger Rickard of Voices In Advocacy. Rickard specializes in bipartisan advocacy training that inspires, educates and empowers supporters to engage. He shared his insight on how to be a successful advocate in order to advance agriculture when talking to legislators.
Attendees also heard from U.S. Congressman Glenn “GT” Thompson, who participated in a breakout session alongside Rickard and gave an overview of the 2023 Farm Bill in a general session that included a question and answer portion.
The conference also featured a tour of Penn State University’s Beef and Sheep Center.
The Young Ag Professionals (YAP) program is a Pennsylvania Farm Bureau program for individuals or couples between the ages of 18 and 35.
The objective of the Young Ag Professionals program is to provide leadership in building a more effective Farm Bureau to preserve our individual freedoms and expand our opportunities in agriculture.
