HARRISBURG, Pa. – Calling all no-till, cover crop and soil health advocates, and those who want to learn more about these practices! We invite you to join the Pennsylvania No-Till Alliance at Hershey Farms (located at 338 Sunnyburn Road, Elizabethtown, Lancaster County) on Tuesday, December 10 for a Soil Health Town Hall Meeting. All are invited to this event, which will commence with coffee and donuts at 8:30 a.m.
The Alliance is pleased to present Mr. Jim Hoorman as keynote speaker for the event. Hoorman is a soil health specialist, recently retired from USDA NRCS. Encompassing a wealth of knowledge and information, he was an Ohio State University Extension Educator for 24 years specializing in soil health, cover crops, water quality, nutrient management, soil ecology, sustainability and economics.
Recently starting his own business, Hoorman Soil Health Services, he concentrates on teaching soil health concepts, consulting with farmers on soil health practices, selling cover crop seed and biological enhancers, writing and conducting grants, and conducting soil health research.
Hoorman’s presentation for the Soil Health Town Hall Meeting will focus on “Improving the Economic Health of Your Farm by Improving Your Soil Health.” The meeting will conclude with a Q & A session, allowing time to get the most out of your attendance and ask questions from Hoorman and any No-Till Alliance board member who may be in attendance.
