LEMOYNE, Pa. — On January 9, 2020, during the Farm Show, the Pennsylvania State Grange is presenting a program dealing with successes in bringing connectivity to rural areas. This is the third in a series of Grange Farm Show programs on Broadband access.
The format is a Panel where representatives of rural electric cooperatives and others will discuss successes in Broadband expansion. The point being made is that there is no one all-inclusive solution. Rather, a variety of different approaches are being tried now with some success.
Presenters are:
- Pennsylvania State Grange President Wayne Campbell
- Rep. Pam Snyder (D-Greene/Fayette/Washington) Co-chair, PA House Broadband Caucus on legislative initiatives
- Henry McCreary describing how Mill Creek, PA got tired of waiting and set up their own tower
- Rachel Houser, Tri-County Rural Electric Cooperative on a targeted approach with the help of the Appalachian Regional Commission and active support by the Governor’s Office of Broadband Initiatives
- Charlotte Davis, Maryland Rural Council on her state’s success at bridging The Digital Divide
The event will take place on Thursday of Farm Show Week (January 9) from 9:30-11:30 a.m. in the Monongahela Room of the Farm Show Complex, Macclay Street (south) entrance. Details: Vince Phillips 717-346-1063; xenobun@aol.com
