UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Anyone interested in raising game birds or managing the operation of a hunting preserve is invited to attend the 2020 Pennsylvania Game Breeders and Hunting Preserves Conference, scheduled for Feb. 23-24 at the Ramada Inn and Conference Center in State College.
Hosted by Penn State Extension and the Pennsylvania Game Breeders Association, the program will feature some of the most experienced individuals in the field of gamebird production and hunting resort management. They will share tips for the beginner on how to successfully manage gamebirds and shooting preserves and address health and other challenges affecting gamebird production.
Session topics include “Eastern Equine Encephalitis,” “Gamebirds Hunting Preserve Management,” “Water Sanitation,” “H2A Visa Program and Overcoming Workforce Deficits,” “Rodent Control IPM,” and “Respiratory Poultry Disease Survey,” among others.
There also will be opportunities for informal discussions with presenters and networking with other preserve owners at the event, including a meet and greet with members of the Pennsylvania Game Breeders Association and Pennsylvania Game Commission scheduled for Feb. 23. The conference will culminate with the Pennsylvania Game Breeders Association’s annual meeting.
Cost to attend the conference is $100 if registrations are made prior to Feb. 18. After that date, the fee increases to $120. Registrants are responsible for their own accommodations and should make reservations directly with the hotel. Reservations must be made before Jan. 23 for attendees to receive the special group rate for rooms.
