BEDFORD, Pa. — The Pennsylvania Beef Council (PBC) is seeking beef and dairy producers who are committed to the Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) program to submit applications for the 2020 Pennsylvania BQA Award contest.
The BQA program has a long standing, positive history of promoting practices on farm that help to ensure consumer confidence in the beef industry. Producers who follow the production practices outlined by the BQA program help to ensure that consumers continue to have confidence in the wholesomeness and safety of the beef that enters the supply chain. It is imperative that we continue to tell the story of producers who do an exceptional job at maintaining records, following animal husbandry guidelines and sharing their positive story with consumers.
The Pennsylvania BQA Award will recognize one outstanding beef and one dairy producer, from across the state, who is incorporating BQA principles as part of the day-to-day activities on their farm. The award is open to all segments of the industry. A common trait among all contest entrants must be a strong desire to continually improve BQA on their operations while encouraging others to implement the producer education program. The winners will be selected based upon their commitment to BQA while operating sustainable cattle operations.
The state BQA award recipients will be selected by a committee of representatives from the Pennsylvania BQA Commission. We encourage you to take this opportunity to share your story and to show your commitment to the BQA program and the beef community. Ultimately, the award recipients will assist the beef industry in presenting a positive story about cattlemen’s contributions to BQA. State award winners will be submitted to the National BQA Contest that is hosted by the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA).
Applications are due March 15,2020. For more information, please visit www.pa-bqa.org/resources to obtain an application. For questions related to possibly entries, please contact Courtney Gray, PA Beef Council’s Director of Producer Communications, cgray@pabeef.org or 1-888-423-3372.
