ORISKANY, N.Y. — One hundred and thirty K-5 classrooms participated in a virtual 2021 Farm Fest this year. A unique experience since, for over 20 years, Cornell Cooperative Extension Oneida County and the Oneida County Farm Bureau have hosted an on-site Farm Fest Field Trip for 4th and 5th grade students.
Why Milk Poster Contest!
In celebration of June Dairy month and Farm Fest 2021, Oneida County Dairy Promotion sponsored a ‘Why Milk’ Poster contest. Last Saturday June 19th, volunteers chose the 6 winners. Posters were evaluated on both the artwork and written information that best answered “Why Milk?” A huge thank-you to the judges: Karen Howard- Oneida County Farm Bureau; Audrey Donahoe- ATRASS Farm; Terri DiNitto- DiNitto Farms; Shelby Carrigan- Oneida County Dairy Princess.
Thanks to a donation from Stewarts, one, winner from each grade won a Steven Spangler Science Activity Kit. The teacher of the winning student won a $50 Gift Certificate to purchase supplies from the Agriculture in the Classroom Store compliments of the Oneida County Farm Bureau.

Winning posters and many of the 2300 plus entries will be on display at the Oneida County Boonville Fair in July.
