WATERLOO, N.Y. — The planning committee for the NY Certified Organic (NYCO) Discussion Meetings has announced one meeting for February 8 and another for spring. The February 8 meeting at J. Martin Auctions in Waterloo, N.Y., which allows for personal spacing for those attending in-person; the program that begins at 10 am will also be offered by Zoom. The February 8 program agenda includes:
10 am: Organic Grain Research Mashup: Green manures, weeds, and winterkill with Ellen Mallory, University of Maine
11 am: Improving Organic No-Till discussion with Jake Allen, Uri Menalled, Chris Pelzer, Annika Rowland, Sandra Wayman and Matt Ryan, Cornell University
12 pm: Potluck Lunch with discussion of Analysis of Slow-Motion Cultivation Footage with Bryan Brown, Ph.D., Cornell University
1:30 pm: Kings Agriseeds’ Sarah Mitchell on organic grain hemp demand from the Netherlands, early research by Kings and products produced in New York from grain hemp; and Rod Porter of Cayuga Ag on new products and mixes from Kings Agriseeds.
Meeting adjourns at 3 pm. The NYCO spring meeting will be held on April 12, 2022 on a farm yet to be determined.
