FRAZEYSBURG, Ohio — While the calendar may not be turned to the month of December, the Ohio Christmas Tree Association (OCTA) is already thinking about the holiday season through its service project Operation Evergreen. For 25 years, OCTA has been shipping Christmas trees, homemade ornaments and notes to our military personnel stationed overseas.
“This is a great way to bring a taste of home to the military who are stationed overseas and do not have the chance to be with family during the holidays,” according to Valerie Graham, Executive Director of OCTA.
According to Graham, the Christmas trees will be inspected and packed for shipment the second week of November, so the trees will be overseas right after Thanksgiving.
This year, OCTA is planning to ship 100 trees at a cost of $160 per tree along with numerous ornaments and notes. If anyone is interested in providing ornaments, notes or a monetary donation, you can do so by contacting the OCTA Office at val@ohiochristmastree.org or submit the items to the OCTA Office at 6870 Licking Valley Rd., Frazeysburg, OH 43822 by Nov. 5, 2020.
