SACRAMENTO — California State fairgoers appear to be hungry for more excitement, as the California State Fair & Food Festival is bringing the community back together safely after being
placed on hold for the past two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The State Fair, one of California’s most celebrated events had tens of thousands of fairgoers gather to create new memories, laughs and reunite with their loved ones, despite the temperatures reaching triple-digits in Sacramento. Live music and refreshing wine slushies were the perfect combination to cool off from the heat in the newly expanded and renovated Save Mart Wine Garden.
“We’re so thrilled Opening Day was a great success,” said Rick Pickering, Cal Expo General Manager and CEO. “It’s fun seeing so many people and families out having a great time and enjoying their favorites at the new additional food trucks and other additions. On Opening Day, I witnessed a family who had not seen each other in three years, and they reunited with one another at their favorite place, the CA State Fair to take part in their traditions.”
Chaka Khan engaged the crowd and brought everyone from the young and the old to their feet with her sultry, soulful, captivating performance. And the night capped off with spectacular fireworks show.
The exciting shrills coming from the rides and the positive buzz from first-ever California Cannabis Exhibit, were among the main attractions on day 1.
The California State Fair runs daily through Sunday, July 31st at Cal Expo. You can also check out all the attractions online at CaStateFair.org or download the CA State Fair app to help map out each visit to this year’s Fair.
