MORRISVILLE, N.Y. — After a successful year of over 5,400 participants, we are ready to start planning for 2023! Open Farm Day will be July 29, 2023. Open Farm Day is an opportunity for farmers of Madison County to open their doors to the public and show them what they do. Participating farms can offer samples, tours and more during the hours of 10am-4pm and participants get a chance to learn and support these different ag businesses. Last year, there were 31 participating locations, including everything from bees to lavender and cheese to CCE Madison!
The pre-planning meeting will be on March 7th at 6pm at the Madison County Cornell Cooperative Extension Office at 100 Eaton Street in Morrisville. This meeting is for the participating (or interested in participating) farms and ag businesses and will be a recap of the successes from 2022, as well as a time to discuss how to make 2023 even better! If you are a Madison County farmer interested in participating in 2023 Open Farm Day, attend this meeting to hear the changes, updates, and plans for this year.
New this year, we will have someone from the Madison County Health Department there to answer your questions about sampling the day of the event. Registration forms will be available at the pre-planning meeting and an online registration option will be made available to those interested by the March 7th date as well.
If you have never participated in OFD, this is a great opportunity for you to gain more understanding of how it works, what it is, and why we do it. If you know of any farms who you think should participate, please spread the word! If you have any questions, feel free to contact Patty Catalano at 315-684-3001 ext. 108
