ITHACA, N.Y. — Cornell CALS PRO-DAIRY is offering a seven-week Reproductive Management Course online in Spanish from January 11 to March 8, 2019. Register at prodairy.cals.cornell.edu. Cost is $265. A $25 discount will be applied to registrations completed by January 4.
This course mirrors material offered in the successful online Reproduction Management course in English held October to December 2018. Participants should possess a formal or informal background in dairy cattle management, but not necessarily in reproductive management.
The value of online learning is that participants can guide their own experience on their own time, and should budget up to 1.5 hour per week for discussions, readings and assignments in MOODLE, a virtual classroom. Webinars provide an opportunity to meet weekly and ask questions in real-time. They are always recorded, so can be viewed after the live feed.
The syllabus includes the topics of: Anatomy and Physiology, Synchronization Protocols, Breeding Strategies, A.I. Techniques, Monitoring Reproductive Programs and Heifer Reproduction Management.
The course features bilingual instructors with dairy expertise, including: Javier Chang, Genex Cooperative; Julio Giordano, DVM, MS, PhD, Cornell University; Magdalena Masello-Souza, DVM, Cornell University; Matias Stangaferro, DVM, MS, PhD, Dairy Health and Management Services; and Martin Matias Perez, DVM, PhD student, Department of Animal Science, Cornell University.
Upon completion students will receive a certificate from Cornell CALS PRO-DAIRY.
