ONEIDA CO., N.Y. — Four 4-H youth earned the privilege of representing Oneida County at the New York State 4-H Horse Bowl Contest, held Saturday, April 9th, at Cornell University. Competing against teams from across New York State, senior 4-H members Alyssa Buck of Rome, Jacob Buck of Rome, Lanelle Vile of Port Leyden and Selby Young of Boonville proudly represented Oneida County.
The Region 3-B Senior team with Alyssa, Jacob, Lanelle and Selby placed 4th overall out of nine teams and Alyssa Buck placed 7th individually! All the 4-H’ers did a phenomenal job and had fun seeing their 4-H friends from other counties.
Horse Bowl is an equine educational contest, similar to a “Quiz Bowl” competition, which tests the participant’s equine knowledge. A team usually consists of four 4-H members, but teams can also have up to two alternates.
