OKLAHOMA CITY — Oklahoma hatcheries set 7.42 million eggs in incubators during the week ending May 1, down 2 percent from the week prior, but 5 percent above the previous year.
The number of chicks placed for meat production during the week of May 1, was 3.21 million, down 21 percent from the previous week and down 32 percent from the previous year.
Texas hatcheries set 18.5 million eggs in incubators during the week ending May 1, down slightly from the week prior, but up 10 percent from the previous year.
The number of chicks placed for meat production during the week of May 1, was 14.8 million, up slightly from the previous week and up 13 percent from the previous year.
