EAST LANSING, Mich. — On September 1, 2021, Ohio corn stocks totaled 54.4 million bushels, approximately 16 percent below a year earlier, according to Cheryl Turner, State Statistician, USDA NASS, Ohio Field Office.
About 41 percent of the corn was stored on farms. The fourth quarter disappearance was 125 million bushels, compared with 99.0 million bushels a year earlier. End of marketing year stocks were about 9 percent of supply.
Soybean stocks on September 1, 2021, were 14.0 million bushels. That was 55 percent lower than stocks a year earlier. Farm stocks of soybeans were 2.10 million bushels. The fourth quarter indicated disappearance was 41.4 million bushels, compared with 47.6 million bushels during the same period a year ago. End of marketing year stocks were about 5 percent of supply.
Wheat stocks on September 1, 2021, were 65.0 million bushels, 9 percent above a year ago. About 90 percent of wheat stocks were stored off-farm.
Old crop corn stocks in all positions on September 1, 2021, totaled 1.24 billion bushels, down 36 percent from September 1, 2020. Of the total stocks, 395 million bushels were stored on farms, down 47 percent from a year earlier. Off-farm stocks, 842 million bushels, were down 28 percent from a year ago. The June – August 2021 indicated disappearance was 2.87 billion bushels, compared with 3.08 billion bushels during the same period last year.
Old crop soybeans stored in all positions on September 1, 2021, totaled 256 million bushels, down 51 percent from September 1, 2020. Soybean stocks stored on farms totaled 68.1 million bushels, down 52 percent from a year ago. Off-farm stocks, 188 million bushels, were down 51 percent from last September. Indicated disappearance for June – August 2021 totaled 513 million bushels, down 40 percent from the same period a year earlier.
All wheat stored in all positions on September 1, 2021, totaled 1.78 billion bushels, down 18 percent from a year ago. On-farm stocks were estimated at 4 419 million bushels, down 41 percent from last September. Off-farm stocks, 1.36 billion bushels, were down 6 percent from a year ago. The June – August 2021 indicated disappearance was 711 million bushels, up 2 percent from the same period a year earlier.
