FRAZEYSBURG, Ohio — The Ohio Christmas Tree Association would like to invite you to be a part of the upcoming OCTA Summer Meeting June 28-29, 2019, at Piney Paradise Christmas Tree Farm in Huron County. This year’s meeting will include presentations that will feature soil pits and drainage options, insects and diseases, discussions of young labor, shearing methods and hosting craft sessions at your farm.
The meeting will also be feature a series of kids events during every session block, so bring along your children or grandchildren. Kids will be able to tie-dye t shirts, decorate gingerbread houses, do crafts and even play Christmas Tree –themed carnival games. Supervision will be provided for children who are potty trained so that you can attend the meeting sessions. Please provide the age of the children so that we are sure to have the supplies and manpower needed for the two-day event. There will be a place for parents and younger children to take a break and get out of the sun as well.
We will also be featuring a Thursday evening pre-meeting event on June 27th: a cruise on the Goodtime 1. The cruise will showcase the shore line of Lake Erie with boarding starting at 7 p.m. and the cruise running from 7:30-9:30 p.m. The cost is $10 for adults and $6.00 for children 15 and under. You will pay at the gate but please mark on the registration if you are planning to attend. The Goodtime Lake Erie Island Cruises will board at 109 West Shoreline Drive, Jackson Street Pier, Sandusky, OH 44870. Free parking is available.

OCTA awards scholarship
The Ohio Christmas Tree Association (OCTA) has selected Madison Greig of Ashtabula County as the recipient of the Alfred DiVencenzo Memorial Student Scholarship.
Greig is a graduate of Lake Catholic High School where she was a member of the girls tennis team, serving as the captain her senior year. She was also a member of the National Honor Society as well as a ambassador for the school. Greig also was involved in the Big Brothers, Big Sisters program.
In the fall of 2019, Greig will be attending Bowling Green State University.
