SALEM, Ore. — After 44 years at ODA Tim Butler officially retiried on February 1. ODA Acting Director Lauren Henderson presented Tim with a congratulatory plaque honoring his years of service and dedication.

Tim joined ODA when he was just 20 years old. He was hired as a seasonal employee then moved into several permanent positions before he was named the the Noxious Weed Control program manager. He served as program manager for 25 years. Best of luck Tim on your next adventure!
New ODA Noxious Weed Program Manager
The ODA Noxious Weed Program is pleased to announce Troy Abercrombie as the new manager of the program. Troy will be taking over for Tim Butler, who is on day one of retirement.
Troy comes into the manager position after having served as am ODA Regional Weeds Specialist. He is a lifelong resident of the Pacific Northwest and has worked in natural resource conservation since 2010. Troy has a B.S. in Rangeland Science from Oregon State University and has spent most of his career in public service having worked on 5 national forests in rare plants, fisheries and noxious weeds in addition to working as a county noxious weeds program coordinator. More recently, Troy was the coordinator of the Western Invasives Network and served as Chair of the Oregon Invasive Species Council.
In addition to managing ODA’s Noxious Weed Program, Troy will also be managing ODA’s Native Plant Conservation Program and is looking forward to opportunities for the two programs to collaborate and complement each other. Troy brings an enthusiastic form of pragmatism that will help guide the two programs into the future with the help of very skilled specialists and staff within each program.
