OKLAHOMA CITY — The competition was fierce at the Lazy E Arena during night one of the Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Association (OCA) Ranch Rodeo.
The 36th Annual event consists of twelve ranch teams of ‘real ranch’ cowboys that compete in five different events mirroring many of the activities they do on the ranch.
Whitmire Ranch is currently in the lead, followed by McPhail Land and Cattle and the Gray G Bar Ranch is in third. The Stierwalt Ranch and Trentman Ranch duo is standing fourth and the Stuart Ranch is in 5th.
The Children’s Hospital Foundation has been the selected charity since 1997. In that time OCA has donated more than $531,000 to CHF to help fund children’s medical research and treatment for children right here at home in Oklahoma.
“Today is a full day,” Givens said.
“We’re honored to have Governor Kevin Stitt join us horseback in the arena to carry the US Flag during the National Anthem this evening,” Givens said. “The OCA deeply appreciates the Governor’s support for Oklahoma agriculture and our mission with this event; raising funds to support the Children’s Hospital Foundation.”
The 2020 participating ranches include: Alfalfa County Land & Cattle, Cherokee, Okla.; Gray G Bar, Shidler, Okla.; Buford Ranches, LLC, Hominy, Okla.; Stuart Ranch, Waurika, Okla.; Drummond Land & Cattle Co., Pawhuska, Okla.; Hall Ranch & Daube Cattle Co., Comanche and Ardmore, Okla.; Treadwell Land & Cattle, Frederick, Okla.; Chain Ranch, Canton, Okla.; Lazy Rafter Slash Ranch, Lenapah, Okla.; Trentman Ranch, Pawhuska, Okla. and Stierwalt Ranch & Cattle, Co., Shidler, Okla.; Whitmire Ranch, Delaware, Okla.; and McPhail Land & Cattle, Mountain Park, Okla.
According to Givens, the Oklahoma Ford Dealers have supported the OCA Ranch Rodeo since the beginning as the presenting sponsor.
“We look forward to seeing everyone at the Lazy E Arena,” said Givens. Masks are encouraged, but not required to attend.”
