RENSSELAER CO., N.Y. — Public speaking is a cornerstone project of the Rensselaer County 4-H Program. Rensselaer County 4-H had four members participate in the New York State 4-H Horse Communications event at Cornell University. In this event, 4-H members have qualified through regional contests in which they prepared and delivered presentations utilizing topics connected to the equine industry and or equine science.
Abigail Trinkle of Nassau and Kaylie Millar of West Sand Lake presented in the Junior Team Division and placed first. James Czub of Schaghticoke and Brigham Logue of Johnsonville both competed in the Senior Individual Presentation Division and placed 7th and 1st respectively. They all did a great job representing Rensselaer County and our 15 county Region. By placing 1st, Brigham has earned a seat on the New York State Horse Communications Team that will compete at the Eastern National 4-H Round-Up in Louisville, Kentucky later this year.
Strong communication skills can be applied to numerous areas of youth’s lives. If you are interested in this or other 4-H Youth Development programs, contact your local Extension office.
