WASHINGTON — Johanna Bossard, a dairy farmer from Fabius, NY and member of Madison County Farm Bureau, is a graduate of the 12th class of Farm Bureau Women’s Communications Boot Camp, held July 22-25, at the American Farm Bureau Federation headquarters in Washington, D.C.
Bossard, who is also an agriculture education teacher and FFA Advisor at Hamilton Central School, received intensive training that included working with the media and government officials, public speaking and messaging. Graduates of this program provide Farm Bureau with passionate and persuasive members who are ready to lend their voices and advocacy to connect with influencers at the local, state and national levels.
The application process for participation was extremely competitive with only 15 women selected from the 50 applications received from 28 states. To date, 180 women have graduated from the program that is open to any female Farm Bureau member interested in building skills needed to communicate about agriculture and advocate for Farm Bureau.
“From a professional standpoint, it was one of the most meaningful trainings I have had the opportunity to be a part of. From a personal standpoint, the lifelong friendships I built, and the knowledge shared from those who conducted our trainings are invaluable. If you are a Farm Bureau member who wants to expand your communication skills and push yourself to be a better ag-vocate for our amazing agriculture community, I encourage you to apply for the AFBF Women’s Leadership Boot Camp Program,” said Bossard.
