ALBANY — The New York Corn and Soybean Growers Association is pleased to announce that Andrew McConnelee and Jessica Engel are the recipients of the 2021 Bill Jenkins Growing the Next Generation Scholarships.
Andrew is attending SUNY Cobleskill to study Plant Science. He is graduating from Cobleskill Richmondville High School. He is model citizen and excels at exhibiting vegetables, canning goods, woodwork, and eggs. He is very involved in FFA, participates in track and field and is a member of National Honor Society and 4-H.
Jessica has just completed her first year at Black Hawk College majoring in Agricultural Business. She has been a prominent member of the Erie County 4-H program and was noted to have excelled in leadership in both 4-H and the Springville FFA Chapter. Jessica has numerous achievements in the livestock arena showing lambs, goats, hogs and beef. She is graduating from Springville-Griffith Institute with an Advanced Regents diploma.
The Bill Jenkins Growing the Next Generation Scholarship honors the life and work of Bill Jenkins, a longtime director and founder of the Association who passed away in July of 2017. Bill provided years and years of experience, enthusiastic volunteering and comic relief to the Association. He exemplified what it means to serve and was passionate that we continue to grow and promote the industry. The NYCSGA applauds Andrew and Jessica for their achievements and looks forward to watching the next generation continue to grow!
