MONROE CO., N.Y. — Cornell Cooperative Extension of Monroe County (CCE-Monroe) is pleased to announce an expansion of our nutrition outreach!
Alexandra (Ally) Miller is one of CCE-Monroe’s newest members joining us as a Nutrition Educator. Ally grew up in the Rochester area, but spent the last four years in Buffalo, getting her bachelor’s degree in Public Health from the University at Buffalo’s exceptional School of Public Health. She was driven by her strong aspiration to help others while learning about community health, community outreach and various public health interventions. Ally has followed her passions all the way to her career with CCE and is excited to give back to her community.
Ally’s position is part of a new initiative at CCE-Monroe. Through funding provided by the Monroe County Legislature, nutrition education will be available to all residents throughout Monroe County. Unlike SNAP-Education which is restricted by demographics and grant requirements, this funding allows Ally to reach any community interested in learning more about healthy eating, wellness, strategies to stretch food budgets, making healthy meals, and more. The SNAP-Ed NY team at CCE-Monroe will continue to serve residents living within the City of Rochester, East Irondequoit, and Gates-Chili. And in addition, this expansion of services enables all Monroe County residents to benefit from the same level of research-based quality nutrition education and resources.
We are incredibly appreciative of Monroe County for supporting this effort in 2022. With a team of SNAP-Ed NY educators reaching our most vulnerable residents in the City of Rochester and Ally providing nutrition education to all parts of Monroe County, our team is strong and effective. We are excited to support the health and well-being of ALL Monroe County residents.
