HOUSTON, Texas — NRCS Texas Urban Conservationist Jay Knight and State Outreach Coordinator Floyd Nauls provided outreach to attendees of the Ranch and Wildlife Expo held in conjunction with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo the week of February 28, 2023. The Ranching and Wildlife Expo includes various wildlife exhibits and educational seminars.
More than 200 visitors to the NRCS exhibit learned more about the agency along with the programs and services available to all agricultural producers in the State of Texas.
NRCS Texas is committed to working with farms of all sizes and in all locations, including those in urban areas. Urban farmers and gardeners work among diverse populations to expand access to nutritious foods, foster community engagement, provide jobs, educate communities about farming and expand green spaces. As part of the outreach, Knight and Nauls promoted partnerships that improve NRCSā ability to connect with underserved producers and underserved communities on small acreage by explaining how to participate in NRCS conservation programs.
