FORDVILLE, N.D. — NPPGA’s Field Day last Thursday was another big success, in fact the noon lunch at the Forest River Colony fed just over 250 people! Large crowds also showed up for a pancake breakfast at Hoverson Farms and at Oberg Farms for the evening barbeque. Sandwiched in between the meals (pardon the pun) were some great research presentations.
In sharp contrast to last year, the grower mood was very good as they are anticipating a good crop this fall, but cautioned they would like another shot or two of rain before harvest.
Researchers had a lot to talk about this year also, with late blight reports and aphid counts both showing sharp increases compared to last year.
Growers, research scientists, agri-business and media members all were present at the day long event. One of the media members in attendance was Jonathan Knutson from Agweek. He filed this report.
