OLYMPIA, Wash. — Stored wheat on Dec. 1, 2020, was up in Washington and Idaho, but down in Oregon compared to 2019 numbers, according to the USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service Northwest Regional Field Office Grain Stocks report. All wheat stocks stored in the Northwest Region were up 9 percent from Dec. 1, 2019.
All wheat stored in all positions on December 1, 2020 totaled 84.7 million bushels in Idaho, up from 77.9 million bushels a year ago. Off-farm stocks were up 19 percent, while on-farm stocks were down 3 percent compared to the previous year.
In Oregon, wheat stored in all positions totaled 38.2 million bushels, down from 42.2 million bushels a year ago. Off-farm stocks were down 12 percent, while on-farm stocks were up 4 percent compared to the previous year.
In Washington, wheat stored in all positions totaled 147 million bushels, up from 128 million bushels a year ago. Off-farm stocks were up 15 percent, while on-farm stocks were up 4 percent compared to the previous year.
Nationally, wheat stored in all positions totaled 1.67 billion bushels, down from 1.84 billion bushels a year ago. Off-farm stocks were down 10 percent, while on-farm stocks were down 7 percent compared to the previous year.
Barley stocks in all positions on December 1, 2020 totaled 45.4 million bushels in Idaho, down from 51.6 million bushels a year ago. Off-farm stocks were down 19 percent, while on-farm stocks were down 7 percent compared to the previous year.
In Oregon, barley stored in all positions totaled 1.31 million bushels. On-farm stocks were down 33 percent compared to the previous year, while off farm stocks were up 22 percent from previous year.
In Washington, barley stored in all positions totaled 7.25 million bushels, up from 5.7 million bushels a year ago. Off-farm stocks were up 33 percent bushels, while on-farm stocks were up 4 percent compared to the previous year.
Nationally, barley stored in all positions totaled 145 million bushels, down from 157 million bushels a year ago. Off-farm stocks were down 14 percent, while on-farm stocks were down 3 percent compared to the previous year.
Oats stored in off-farm locations on December 1, 2020 totaled 163,000 bushels in Idaho, up from up 116,000 bushels a year ago. In Oregon, oats stored in off-farm locations totaled 234,000 bushels, down from 406,000 bushels a year ago. In Washington, oats stored in off-farm locations totaled 110,000 bushels, down from 85,000 the previous year.
Nationally, oats stored in all positions totaled 57.7 million bushels, down from 53.9 million bushels a year ago. Off-farm stocks were down 1 percent, while on-farm stocks were up 16 percent compared to the previous year.
Corn stored in off-farm locations on December 1, 2020 totaled 1.26 million bushels in Oregon, up 159 percent from a year ago. In Washington, corn stored in off-farm locations totaled 12.3 million bushels, up from 10.0 million bushels a year ago.
Nationally, corn stored in all positions totaled 11.3 billion bushels, down slightly from a year ago. Off-farm stocks were up 1 percent, while on-farm stocks were down slightly compared to the previous year.
