BEDFORD, Pa. — The Pennsylvania Beef Council (PBC) along with American Dairy Association North East (ADANE) hosted two workshops for dairy producers to learn more about the changes to the National Dairy Farmers Assuring Responsible Management (FARM) program. The funds for workshops like these are made available via the Northeast Dairy Beef Quality Assurance (NEDBQA) program, facilitated on behalf the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA).
Keynote speakers for the workshops were regional veterinarians Dr. Jennifer Kauf and Dr. Jody Kull. Both veterinarians worked directly with their clients to update protocols, on-farm procedures and to prepare them for upcoming changes to the program.

During the workshops, the veterinarians presented on changes to protocol requirements including what sections of the FARM 4.0 evaluations would require additional hands-on training, how to build proper training tools for employees and best practices for daily animal care.
In total, approximately 75 producers attended the workshops. In addition to the veterinarian presentations, Amy Yeiser Leslie, Industry Relations Specialist with ADANE hosted a Driving Dairy Discussions training. This training is intended to help equip producers to be dairy advocates in their everyday life.
