ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. — The 25th annual Northeast Ag Expo Summer Field Day is scheduled and set to be held on July 25, 2019. This year’s event will be hosted by Currituck County at Roberts Brothers Inc. located on 169 N Gregory Rd. in Shawboro N.C. This year’s field day will focus on maximizing soybean and corn production. North Carolina Pesticide and Certified Crop Advisor credits will be available.
The event will begin at 7:45 a.m. with registration, breakfast, and a trade show. Opening remarks will start at 9:15 a.m., and the field tour will commence from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Following the tour, diamond sponsors will present and lunch will be provided. The field tour will highlight seven soybean research trials and five corn trials. Presentations will be delivered by experts from North Carolina State University, Virginia Tech, as well as North Carolina Cooperative Extension Agents. Topics include planting date, plant population, insect management, fertilization, variety selection, row-width, and disease management.
The Northeast Ag Expo Team is a North Carolina Cooperative Extension group that serves Camden, Currituck, Chowan, Gates, Pasquotank, and Perquimans Counties. This 6-county team holds two field days annually, which are collaborative efforts with agriculture producers, agribusinesses, North Carolina State University, and commodity groups.
