CHISHOLM, Minn. — The north St. Louis County 4-H Livestock Project Development Committee hosted the 1st annual 4-H Market Livestock Ribbon Auction during the St. Louis County Fair. This auction highlights the hard work and dedication 4-H youth put into raising and caring for their market livestock. The auction allows 4-H youth the opportunity to earn extra money and invest their funds into future livestock for the next year of showing.
Any 4-H youth in grades 3 and up who showed a market livestock animal during the St. Louis County Fair is eligible to participate in the auction. Youth receive 75% of the funds raised while the other 25% are used by the north St. Louis County 4-H livestock Project Development Committee to help with youth livestock education.

About Extension 4-H: 4-H is a youth development program of the University of Minnesota Extension. Available for youth grades k-1 year after high school, 4-H’ers participate in hands-on learning experiences in STEM, citizenship & leadership, animal science, creative arts and much more. Through this learn-by-doing process, youth obtain essential life skills such as problem solving, decision making, coping and communicating that help them succeed in their school, college, community and career. Research shows that youth who participate in 4-H have better grades and are more emotionally engaged with school, are more than twice as likely to be civically active and contribute to their communities, and are 47% less likely to have risky or problem behaviors.
