RALSTON, Iowa — There’s still time for area growers to take advantage of a premium-rich non-GMO soybean seed program offered by Landus Cooperative® for immediate planting.
Landus Cooperative is contracting non-GMO soybean acres in order to meet new demand from dairy producer customers requesting non-GMO SoyPlus® manufactured at the cooperative’s recently expanded soy crush facility here.
“As consumers demand non-GMO dairy products, our dairy herd customers across the country are eager to get their hands on non-GMO feed ingredients like SoyPlus®,” explained Mark Cullen, chief animal nutrition officer for Landus Cooperative who oversees the organization’s branded dairy product line. “As such, we still have immediate demand for spring 2017 planted acres to meet our end-user demands this fall.”
“This spring’s wet weather gives area growers the opportunity to make the switch to a premium-rich non-GMO program,” explained Tom Guinan, vice president of producer grain marketing for Landus Cooperative. “Harvest premiums start at $1.15 per bushel over our Ralston, Iowa location bid.”
“Our field sales agronomists are prepared with quality seed recommendations and solid in-season weed management programs for any operation,” explained Todd Claussen, director of agronomy strategic marketing. “We recognize most folks have their seed plans in place but this is an excellent opportunity for enhanced margins by partnering with our team in this closed-loop program.”
Landus Cooperative’s grain, agronomy, and animal nutrition divisions are working together to offer the farm-to-fork opportunity.
“We believe one of our cooperative’s distinct advantages is our ability to touch every step in the soybean supply chain from the soybean seed we offer through value-added soybean meal processing,” added Cullen. “While we are pro-biotechnology, this non-GMO program offers our farmer-members an economic advantage as well as an opportunity for cooperative profitability which could mean more patronage opportunities for all members.”
