TRENTON, N.J. — The New Jersey Department of Agriculture will present Jerome Dunn Academy and George Washington Academy in Elizabeth with the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program VIP Award at 2 p.m. on Thursday.
Jerome Dunn Academy and George Washington Academy each have offered the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program, a federally-funded initiative that provides grants to schools to provide fresh produce as snacks to students in schools where 50 percent or more of the students receive free or reduced-price lunch.
The schools will be awarded their choice of a salad bar, nutrition education resources or equipment to aid in delivery of fresh fruits and vegetables.
Secretary Douglas Fisher will present the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program VIP Award 2 p.m. on Thursday at Jerome Dunn Academy & George Washington Academy 250 Broadway, Elizabeth, NJ 07201.
