TRENTON, N.J. — The New Jersey Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Division Director Rose Tricario, along with USDA and local officials, will honor Juan Pablo Duarte – Jose Julian Marti School No. 28 in Elizabeth with the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program VIP Award at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
Juan Pablo Duarte – Jose Julian Marti School No. 28 offers the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program, a federally funded initiative that allows grants to schools to provide fresh produce as snacks to students in schools where 50 percent or more of the students receive free or reduced-price lunch.
The school will be awarded its choice of a salad bar, nutrition education resources or equipment to aid in delivery of fresh fruits and vegetables.
