TRENTON, N.J. — New Jersey Secretary of Agriculture Douglas H. Fisher will visit Free Haven Farms in Lawnside during its camp week to highlight local produce and agricultural education on Thursday.
The visit will take place during a week-long youth camp that allows students to explore agriculture, ecosystems, food chains, soil chemistry and more.
Free Haven Farms was established in 2017 by Micaiah and Dr. Cynthia Hall. Micaiah had a vision before the couple purchased their residence in Cynthia’s hometown to create a farm where they could raise their children and be able to show others in their community how to grow their own food. The location allows the Halls’ produce to be accessible to the community.
Free Haven Farms started by operating a farmer’s market on site on Sundays. The farm also distributes its goods using a CSA model and at several local weekly farmers markets while providing educational experiences on and off the farm.
Secretary Fisher will visit Free Haven Farms at 10 a.m. on Thursday at 105 Williams Street, Lawnside, NJ 08045.
