PIGEON FALLS, Wis. — UW Discovery Farms is hosting multiple FREE workshops that will guide farmers through the process of implementing a Nitrogen Use Efficiency study on their own fields. Nitrogen Use Efficiency (NUE) is a self-assessment tool that tracks nitrogen (N) through the season and ultimately can provide insight into potential N management improvements. All participants must be willing and capable of assessing at least one corn grain or corn silage fields.
Each workshop will cover what is NUE and preparation steps for the season, from establishing a Zero-N plot, to sampling procedures and data collection protocols. All workshops will take place from 9:30 am – 11:30 am. Dates and locations are as follows.

Participants will know their NUE values, understand how their values compare to other fields in the region and state as well as what factors could be contributing to those results.
