New York Soil Health announces mini-grants for 2022

Grant awards are up to $3000 for eligible program applications and $500 maximum for travel grant requests

ALBANY — New York Soil Health is pleased to announce the offering of mini-grants for 2022.

Farmers, extension personnel, technical service providers, and organizations in New York working with the agricultural community are encouraged to apply.

Grant awards are up to $3000 for eligible program applications and $500 maximum for travel grant requests. The deadline for applications is May 31, 2022.

“The offering of mini-grants is designed to encourage expanding soil health research, education, and awareness to communities across NYS,” said Debbie Aller, New York Soil Health program coordinator.

Examples of activities funded include:

  • Purchasing demonstration supplies and equipment for use at field days and other outreach events to educate participants on soil health
  • Conducting soil health sampling on farms (rural or urban)
  • Hosting a workshop, training, or field day on a soil health-related topic
  • Attending a soil health-related workshop, field day, or conference within NY
