UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Best practices for Agronomic production including nutrient management, integrated pest management, soil health, and crop variety selection are just a few of the topics that will be featured during the weekly webinar series offered by Penn State Extension.
“As we look to offer our annual events such as ‘Farming for Success’ or the ‘Agronomic Diagnostic Clinic,’ unfortunately we are faced with limitations due to coronavirus-related restrictions,” said Dwight Lingenfelter, weed science extension associate in the College of Agricultural Sciences. “This webinar series will feature topics that would have been part of those events in a virtual format.”
The webinar series, which kicks off at 8 a.m. July 24, will cover a range of topics including manure application and small grain varieties, nutrient analysis, soil health, insect issues and soybean cyst nematodes. Certified Crop Adviser, Act 38 Nutrient Management and Pennsylvania Pesticide Applicator CEU credits will be offered.
Educators from extension’s Field and Forage Crops team will lead the sessions.
The schedule is as follows:
–July 24: “Manure Application Setbacks and Small Grain Varieties”
–July 31: “Soybean Cyst Nematode”
–Aug. 7: “Manure Sampling and Nutrient Analysis”
–Aug. 14: “Insect Issues and Planting Green”
–Aug. 21: “Manure Incorporation and Soil Health”
