New peach cultivars highlight Stone Fruit Field Day

The upcoming Stone Fruit Field Day will address a variety of topics and concerns Florida peach growers face, including production issues such as disease and pest management and training and pruning trees. (UF/IFAS photo)

CITRA, Fla. — The upcoming Stone Fruit Field Day will address a variety of topics and concerns Florida peach growers face, including production issues such as disease and pest management and training and pruning trees.

The highlight of the field day will be information on new peach cultivars released by the UF/IFAS stone fruit breeding program in the past year, the UFSol and UFRuby.

Continuing education credits are available for application to pesticide licenses in select categories.

WHAT: The annual Stone Fruit Field Day. Topics include nutrient management, new cultivars, pest management and more.

WHEN: 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., April 26

WHO: Current and interested peach growers, home gardeners, farm advisors and all those interested in stone fruit are invited to attend.

Presenters include UF/IFAS researchers and a guest speaker from Clemson University to discuss nutrient management. A full agenda and list of presenters can be found here.

WHERE: In-person at the UF/IFAS Plant Science Research and Education Unit in Citra.

COST: The event is free and includes lunch. The deadline to RSVP is April 20 and registration is available now.
