ONLINE — Known industry-wide as The Nutrient Use Efficiency People™, the team at Verdesian Life Sciences are excited to share more on the innovation and technology that is helping to drive nitrogen management. On March 22 at 9 a.m. Pacific time, Verdesian will provide an all-star lineup of industry leaders in the nitrogen management space to present new opportunities for in-season management of the nutrient.
Nitrogen management experts will include: Dr. Karl Wyant, Dr. Sat Darshan Khalsa, Phil Frost, and Ashel Young.
Dr. Wyant currently serves as the Western Region Certified Crop Advisor group Board Chair and is employed as the Director of Agronomy for Nutrien. In this position, Dr. Wyant contributes proven agronomic leadership in growing the Nutrien commodity and premium fertilizer product lines and promotes advanced sustainability initiatives. Before working at Nutrien, Dr. Wyant served as the Vice President of Ag Science for Heliae Agriculture (2019-2022) and as an agronomist for Helena Agri-Enterprises in California and Arizona (2014-2019). Dr. Wyant earned his advanced degrees at Arizona State University (PhD – 2014) and Colorado State University (MS – 2008). Dr. Wyant is a Certified Crop Advisor and Certified Professional Agronomist (CPAg) and currently serves as the Board Chair for the Western Region Certified Crop Advisor group. Karl also has his CA and AZ Pest Control Advisor licenses.
Following Dr. Wyant, Dr. Sat Darshan will present on the importance of nitrogen management focusing on nutrient cycling and management in tree crops integrating plant, soil and social sciences. Dr. Khalsa earned his PhD from University of California, Davis, and has authored multiple papers on nutrient management in specialty crops using a range of soil, plant and survey experimental techniques. He leads multiple efforts in applied orchard research studying soil amendments and nitrogen stabilizers. Dr. Khalsa also works with a team of agronomists and social scientists investigating the barriers to adoption of nitrogen and irrigation practices.
Phil Frost, Verdesian Life Sciences, Technical Development Manager, offers unique insight while presenting opportunities for nitrogen management using LYRA™, a product proven to improve nutrient availability and uptake; optimize fruit set and fruit quality; enhance abiotic stress tolerance; and improve nutrient availability by mitigating nitrate leaching.
Rounding out the webinar, attendees will hear about agronomic benefits of LYRA that Ashel Young, Valley Ag, has witnessed through his and his customers’ direct use of the product.
