VOORHEESVILLE, N.Y.–Cornell Cooperative Extension Capital Area Agricultural and Horticultural Program is hosting a meeting where beef producers can learn about a new market opportunity. Mackenzie Waro, from Strauss Brands, is looking for 100 percent grass-fed and grass-finished beef producers in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions to attend this event.
The meeting will be held at CCE Washington County, Annex II, 415 Lower Main St, Hudson Falls, NY on Thursday, November 1, 2018, and runs from 7:00 until 9:00 PM.
Waro will discuss the protocols and requirements Strauss has for purchasing grass-fed beef. Here is an introduction to what Strauss is looking for. Program-qualified cattle must be 100 percent grass fed and grass finished, raised without the use of antibiotics or growth-promoting hormones, have English-based genetics (with a preference for Angus, Red Angus, and Hereford crosses). Market-ready cattle must be 30 months and younger. There will be plenty of time to have those present to get their questions answered.
There is no cost to attend this meeting. Registration is requested. You may register online athttps://tinyurl.com/yark3qu7.
