TRENTON, N.J. — Based on conditions as of October 1, New Jersey farmers expect an average of 30 bushels per acre of soybeans in 2022, according to Bruce Eklund, state statistician of the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service, New Jersey Field Office. Last year’s bountiful yield averaged 46 bushels per acre. Expected acres harvested is 108 thousand acres, up from last year’s 99 thousand acres.
Nationally, growers expect to harvest 1% fewer soybeans than last year.
Production forecasts are released monthly and do not reflect final production estimates. The next production forecast will be issued November 9, 2022.
