New Jersey crop progress, condition report

Last week farmers were able to get out in fields every day

According to the National Agricultural Statistics Service in New Jersey, there were 7 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending Sunday, May 23, 2021. Topsoil moisture supplies were 54 percent very short, 46 percent short. (photo by Nicholas A. Tonelli, creative commons/flickr.com)

TRENTON, N.J. — According to the National Agricultural Statistics Service in New Jersey, there were 7 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending Sunday, May 23, 2021. Topsoil moisture supplies were 54 percent very short, 46 percent short. Subsoil moisture supplies were 13 percent very short, 54 percent short and 33 percent adequate. Pasture conditions were 2 percent very poor, 9 percent poor, 28 percent fair, 48 percent good, and 13 percent excellent.
