COLUMBIA, S.C. — We’re pleased to announce a grant program to help South Carolina growers find new markets and expand their opportunities by attending educational events and trade shows.
The Market Development Trade Show and Educational Conference Cost Share Program offers partial funding for specialty crop producers to attend certain pre-approved trade shows and conferences. The program is a project of the South Carolina Specialty Crop Growers Association and the South Carolina Department of Agriculture and is supported by USDA Specialty Crop Block Grant funding.
Qualifying events for 2021-22 are:
- Southeast Produce Council Southern Innovations
- Southeast Produce Council Southern Exposure
- New York Produce Show
- Produce Marketing Association
- Carolina Farm Stewardship Association Sustainable Agriculture Conference
- Southeast Regional Fruit and Vegetable Conference
The application deadline for the 2021–2022 year is July 1, 2021. Growers must apply annually and obtain approval in advance of activities for which they seek reimbursement. Growers may be reimbursed for 50% of exhibitor or registration fees via the application approval and contract award process. Reimbursements are offered on a first-come first-served basis.
The overall goal of this project is to increase demand for Certified South Carolina agriculture products, creating jobs and bolstering our economy.
