BOONVILLE, N.Y. — The North Star Food Hub, Inc., (NSFH) is proud to announce that they are expanding their drop-off locations to the Boonville area and will now be dropping off pre-purchased grocery bags at Freddy’s Diner, 101 Ford Street in Boonville.
The North Star Food Hub is based in Lyons Falls and works in collaboration with area farmers and growers to sell their products locally. This includes area restaurants, grocery stores, schools and institutions. It also operates a direct-to-consumer website delivering fresh ingredients to area residents by dropping their freshly harvested products at specified locations within Jefferson, Lewis, St. Lawrence and Oneida Counties.
Residents in Boonville and surrounding areas can go on to the North Star Food Hub website and register for the closest pick-up location. The ordering window is open Wednesday through Sunday for the following week’s delivery schedule.
Freddy’s Diner is our newest pick-up location and is glad to part of this project. Karen Kapfer, owner of Freddy’s Diner said, “I am so happy to be part of such a wonderful program that our community will truly benefit from. The North Star Food Hub is happy to support our area farmers and to provide a location so that the entire North Country community can benefit from fresh locally grown food. Tough times have come upon us all, shopping locally has never been more important.”
Other drop off locations for weekly groceries are: Cummings Farm, 3830 West Road in Turin (Friday’s 4:00 – 6:00 pm) Hidden Pastures Dairy, 5115 NY-12 in Glenfield (Friday’s 4:00 – 6:00 pm) Autumn Ridge Goat Farm, 5030 NY-26 in Turin (Friday’s 4:00 – 6:00 pm). The NSFH also offers drop off locations in Copenhagen, Adams, Watertown, and Clayton. The North Star Food Hub works in collaboration with the respective Cornell Cooperative Extension Associations and New York State Agriculture and Markets to help local producers expand their production and become more competitive in the marketplace.
