LINCOLN — “Over the last four years I’ve traveled the state visiting with thousands of farmers, ranchers, homeowners, and small business owners across rural Nebraska. Through all those interactions virtually everyone has told me their property taxes are too high.”
“As the governor pointed out today, we all want a better business climate for Nebraska and opportunities for growth. However, the best way to achieve that is through tax reform that addresses our overreliance on property taxes to fund government services.”
“Fixing our property tax problem must be the priority for this legislative session. If history has taught us anything, it is that our inability to resolve the property tax issue has ensured the vast majority of property taxpayers experience tax increases each and every year.”
“We look forward to continuing the discussion and opportunities to work with the governor and the legislature to ensure property tax reform that meets the needs of all Nebraskans is the priority for the 2017 legislative session.”
