WINTHROP, Maine (AP) — Neighbors of a Maine lawmaker who was badly burned are helping out at the representative’s farm.
The Kennebec Journal reports dozens of neighbors gathered over the weekend in Winthrop at Maine state Rep. Craig Hickman’s Annabessacook Farm Bed & Breakfast. Hickman was seriously injured in a brush fire accident last week. The 50-year-old suffered burns on his legs and chest.
Neighbors didn’t hesitate to help Hickman and his husband, Jop Blom. They say the pair has helped others by giving away food, cooking community dinners and assisting other farmers.
Hickman thanked his neighbors for coming together to help in a time of need. Hickman’s husband says the couple is looking for volunteers who can water crops.
