TRENTON, N.J. — New Jersey Secretary of Agriculture Douglas H. Fisher and last year’s photo contest winner Coley Gaffney, owner of Soulberri Coffee and Smoothies, will kick off the fourth year of the Department’s social media photo contest on Thursday at Soulberri Coffee and Smoothies in Brigantine. To participate in the 2018 contest, which will last through Nov. 6, people are encouraged to post photos on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram using the #FindJerseyFresh hashtag.
Last year hundreds of people and businesses submitted more than 2,500 photos from all over New Jersey highlighting favorite fruits, vegetables, markets, pick-your-own farms and agritourism activities.
This year’s contest will feature a weekly challenge to find a specific fruit or vegetable to photograph and post on social media using the #FindJerseyFresh hashtag. The new challenge will be posted on the Jersey Fresh Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages each Wednesday and contestants will have a full week to post their #FindJerseyFresh photos.
Gaffney’s winning photo from last year, captioned, “It’s the most wonderful time of the year #tomatoes #harvest,” featured a colorful display of Jersey Fresh heirloom tomatoes. Gaffney’s restaurant sources produce from several New Jersey farms throughout the year.
Secretary Fisher will kick off the #FindJerseyFresh contest at 11 a.m. on Thursday at Soulberri Coffee and Smoothies, 1106 W. Brigantine Ave., Brigantine, NJ 08203.
