BISMARCK, N.D. — The North Dakota Beef Commission (NDBC) is sponsoring a Beef Grilling Competition at the Grand Fork Air Force Base on Aug. 6. The event is being held in cooperation with the Grand Forks Air Force Base Commissary as part of the base-wide Summer Bash Celebration.
Each Beef Grilling Competition team, made up of two to three participants, is required to bring all cooking utensils and equipment for the competition. The beef cut used for the competition will be revealed at the start of the event and will be provided to the teams. Additional foods and pantry items will also be available to competing teams during the competition.
“When you say competition to military personnel, they take it to a whole new level,” says Nancy Jo Bateman, NDBC executive director. “This event is a fun way to create some friendly competition, thank our dedicated military members for their service, and promote the variety of options available when grilling beef.”
Military members and their families will also be treated to a picnic anchored by beef burgers and all-beef hotdogs and prepared by North Dakota beef producers. The outreach event at the Grand Forks Air Force Base also helps consumers from all over the United States understand where beef is produced.
The NDBC, representing North Dakota beef producers, manages the state’s beef checkoff program with the mission of enhancing beef demand by strengthening consumer trust and exceeding consumer expectations. This is accomplished through programs and activities in the areas of promotion, research and consumer information. For additional information on beef and the NDBC, visit www.ndbeef.org.
