BERRIEN SPRINGS, Mich. — The Berrien Conservation District in conjunction with Love Creek County Park and Nature Center, will be hosting a Native Plant Presentation on Tuesday, March 31st as part of their spring pollinator workshop series. The presentation will be from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. Vern Stephens from Designs by Nature Nursery will discuss native plant characteristics and care, picking the right plant, and more. Questions are welcome.
Native plants are adapted to this region’s soils and climate, and require little maintenance once established. They are a valuable food source for many insects and birds that many ornamental plants cannot provide. Native plants have strong, extensive root systems that help rainwater infiltrate deep into the soil and protect the soil from erosion. Wildflowers and grasses can also enhance the beauty of any landscape.
The doors will open at 6:00 pm with the presentation to start promptly at 6:30 pm.
No pre-registration is required. Admission to Love Creek is $3 per vehicle or free with a Berrien County Parks Permit. Location: 9292 Huckleberry Road, Berrien Center, MI 49102.
Questions can be directed to The Berrien Conservation District at 269-471-9111 x3.
