ITHACA, N.Y. — Nathan (Nate) Chittenden is a third-generation farmer from Dutch Hollow Farm in Schodack Landing. Nate graduated from Cornell in 2000 with a bachelor’s degree in dairy science. He then returned to his family farm and built the Dutch Hollow Farm and brand, while advocating across New York state for the dairy farming industry.
Nate’s community engagement includes longtime service on the Columbia-Greene Cornell Cooperative Extension Board, leadership positions on the Agri-Mark Young Cooperators Board and 22 years as a local 4-H dairy leader.
To honor Nate’s commitment to his community and his efforts promoting a positive public view of dairy farming, Nate is being recognized with the first ever Cornell University Hometown Alumni Award.
Cornell University’s Division of University Relations – in collaboration with Alumni Affairs and Development and other campus units – launched the Cornell University Hometown Alumni Award to recognize Cornell graduates who returned to their home counties to start or enhance a business or non-profit, and who regularly volunteer in their home community.
Nate will be recognized at Dutch Hollow Farm on Saturday, June 23 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
