CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — Republican Gov. Chris Sununu will be making the ceremonial first pick of the season to celebrate the annual New England Apple Day later this month.
Sununu will be heading to McKenzie’s Farm in Milton on Aug. 30 for the apple picking. He will be accompanied by Commissioner of Agriculture Lorraine Merrill, representatives of the New England Apple Association as well as orchard hosts, the McKenzie Family. At the event, there will be information about this year’s apple crop and a tour of the facilities.
McKenzie’s Farm was established in 1990 and sits atop Plummer’s Ridge in Milton.
New England Apple Day in its ninth year and was established as a way to remind people that harvest season has begun at their local apple orchards.
